Hi,

We have a project where we are using Excel for our test plan and test cases. This is a shard and working document where we have multiple users.

I hope I am in the correct topic group here as my question is what is the process in order for multiple users to use the document other than having one Read/write copy open leaving only Read only as an option ?

Many thanks
Confused

If I remember correctly, the "Share Workbook" feature (in the Tools menu) will help you out.

Hi Kristian,

Thanks for the input. We use this "feature" today but can be a bit dangerous as in the past someone who was working on a test case suddenly found it had been deleted by someone else. Apart from useing the obvious test tools out there I wonder if there is another option around this ? Is there any feature in Sharepoint that can be used ?

If you are using Excel for test cases, I will recommend that you group/categorize all your test cases and then assign a sheet to each group/categorize. As an example, you can have test cases testing “Firmware update” in one sheet, test cases testing “Configuration” in another sheet, etc. etc.
Each tester can then be assigned to a sheet with test cases. In this way only one person is working in the same. One sheet can also by used as am statistically overview of how many test cases is Passed, Failed, Not Executed, etc. This statistic can be done by making math in a cell looking and counting all the “Passed” (P) test cases in all the other sheets.
